Recent research reported by the Alzheimer's Association points to an increased risk of developing Dementia. Researchers spent two years analyzing the mental state of 360 people over the age of 55, paying particular attention to their tendency to fall into repetitive negative thinking (RNT) patterns. Participants were also assessed for depression and anxiety. The research found that chronic negative thinking patterns over a long period of time could increase the risk of dementia. However, the team do not think that short-term setbacks would increase the risk of developing the disease. This report can be worrying for some and lead to even more negative thinking.
