Q - What is Hypnotherapy?
A - Hypnotherapy is a combination of Psychotherapy and Hypnosis. The Psychotherapy in itself is extremely beneficial and it's effects are enhanced by the application of Hypnosis., which enables the subconscious mind to make beneficial changes.
Q - What could I use Hypnotherapy/Psychotherapy for?
A - The short answer to that question is, anything you like. Hypnotherapy/Psychotherapy will help you to get over thoughts, feelings and habits that are holding you back in your life. These thoughts could be anxieties or fears for example. Hypnotherapy/Psychotherapy will also help with other issues, such as lack of confidence, exam nerves and IBS. You can also use it to sop smoking. The list goes on.The KEY here is that we use SOLUTION FOCUSED Hypnotherapy. We don't focus on the problem but focus on what you can do to find a SOLUTION.
Q - Will hypnotherapy work for me?
A - Maybe, maybe not. Not everyone takes to hypnotherapy in the same way that not everyone will find a benefit with other complimentary therapies. If it doesn't work for you then you have learned something about yourself. Next step would be to keep looking to find the right therapy that does works for you.
Q - Is there anything it doesn't work for?
A - Yes. Hypnotherapy cannot make you physically taller for example. That sort of thing. (but by removing phobias and improving self esteem it can make you FEEL taller!).
Q - How many sessions will I need?
A - This will depend on your own situation. You may get what you need from the sessions very quickly, or it may take some time. To give an example, for anxiety we would suggest you may need around 8 to 12 sessions. You will know when you want to stop the sessions.
Q - When will I feel a difference?
A - Again, this depends on the individual. I would expect you to notice some difference right from the start, but everyone is different.
Q - Do Doctors approve of Hypnotherapy/Psychotherapy?
A - You will have to ask your own Doctor this question. However, Doctors are starting to understand that Hypnotherapy has a great deal to offer in helping people gain better health. When you consider that a high percentage of all GP appointments are stress related in some way or another most Doctors will agree that Hypnotherapy can help. Psychotherapy has long been established as a way of helping someone overcome mental health issues and, therefore most doctors approve of Psychotherapy.
Q - Will you make me do stupid things once you have hypnotised me?
A - No, I will not be able to encourage you to do anything that you would not want to do. It's worth remembering here that you are in control at all times. It is you that is putting you into a trance and it is you that will be sorting out all the issues. I'm just there as a sort of travel guide, giving you the tools and helping with the directions as you change the way you think and, therefore, start to change your life for the better. It's you learning to control your mind rather than it controlling you.
Q - So what is the difference between you and a stage Hypnotist?
A - The main difference is that a stage Hypnotist has chosen to use their hypnosis skills to entertain and amaze. The people who do end up acting out on stage always volunteer to be hypnotised and are not forced or made to. A Clinical Hypnotherapist has chosen to use their hypnosis skills to assist people regain their lives and to get on with life by getting rid of whatever has been holding them back. A stage Hypnotist is also someone that tends to be flamboyant and enjoys the attention. I can assure you I am anything but flamboyant and do not seek attention.
Q - I'm a little bit nervous about being in a room with a stranger, is it OK to bring someone with me?
A - Absolutely. I fully understand that this may be the case, after all, I'm dealing with people who have anxieties all the time. So no problem here. Just let me know that you'd like to bring someone with you so I can make sure there's a second chair available for them.
Q - Is there any point in booking for a Consultation if I can't afford to book a Hypnotherapy/Psychotherapy session afterwards?
A - Definitely. The Initial Consultation will provide you with lots of information that you take away with you. Information that will get you started on the road to your preferred destination. You will also be given a Consultation pack full of information along with a CD so you can start your relaxation sessions straight away. The Initial Consultation will also provide you with a chance to ask questions and come up with a solution for how we go forward. I'm open to trade swaps for example so that may be a solution. Talking is good so make the most of the Initial Consultation.
